How Jen Stays Organized
Making my bed - The first thing I do after I wake up everyday is make my bed. Making your bed is a small and easy thing that you can do that’s good for sanity. Plus, feels great to come home to an organized home.
Erin Condren Life Planner - I have meetings on top of meetings and keeping my days planned out within this planner keeps me calm and helps me prepare with ease.
Using the Notes app on my phone - Every night before I go to bed, I make a top priority list for the next day. I go to sleep prepared for what the next day will bring and one less thing on my mind.
Making a master LIFE to-do list - This master list is divided into weekly, monthly and quarterly goals. I love Google docs and Evernote, because they sync up between your computer or phone. A cluttered headspace is just as bad as a cluttered physical space, so this practice helps to declutter and streamline my life.
Using a mail station - In my home, I have a place to incoming, outgoing and to-do mail. When it comes it, I sort it into the appropriate place and make sure to open my mail each day so it doesn't pile up.
Decluttering my e-mail - E-mail has a tendency to pile up even quicker than postal mail. I use Unroll.Me to unsubscribe from mailing lists that I no longer want to be on and snooze e-mails to remind me on the day I need them. This helps keep e-mails from cluttering/overwhelming my inbox/brain.
TheSkimm - I only have so many hours in a day and one thing I want to keep up with is what is going on in the world. This is a daily e-mail that arrives to my inbox with an easy-to-read overview of the news. It’s a great way to start my morning feeling more connected and aware.
Genius Scan - This is an app that allows me to create PDF's and organize business docs, receipts, etc.
When it comes to living an organized life, it’s about finding what works best for YOU. These are great tools that help me streamline my life so that I can spend more time and mental space on the things that need my attention. I hope they help you in some way, too!
