Getting ready can either elicit a feeling of excitement or annoyance, all dependent upon how you’ve organized your things. If they’re neatly placed in categorized containers and drawers, you likely feel more joy when it’s time to get ready. If you’re rummaging through makeup bags and finding things in buried piles, the chances of getting frustrated are high. We’re breaking down a few key pieces and systems to implement if you’re looking to add more joy to your getting ready routine.
If you find yourself with a standard getting ready routine, it’s best to designate an area to get it done. Whether it’s a vanity, shelving, or simply under the sink space that you’re using, you can implement the following products to streamline your process.
Lazy Susan - This product allows you access to all of your products while helping you maintain your routine and organization.
Mesh Bins (M and L) - These bins add a layer of containment to secure your products in an upright position. Adding the same kind of bins to your space creates a cohesive look and makes it easier to take your things out.
Bin Clips - Keep track of what goes into your bins by labeling them properly, this way you know exactly where everything is.
Riser - Stop losing out on precious real estate in the back of your storage by using risers, as they help make all of your products clearly visible. They also help to maximize storage by using up some of that vertical space that goes otherwise unused.
Along with products, use systems to create flow in your routine (and life).
Organize like items together - Hair products, skin serums, sunscreen; whatever categories you have in your arsenal, make sure they all stay together.
Organize by Expiration date - Products that expire sooner should be placed at the front of your vanity/backstock area so that you reach for them first.
Organize your items by preference - If you have a go-to night moisturizer that you use every day, place it in an easily accessible area so that it’s ready for you when you need it.
