25 Organization Tasks That Will Take Under 15 Minutes
I am the first to admit that as beautiful as organization is, it is also time consuming. With that, I want to shed light on the fact that starting small and simple tasks, make a difference (especially with organization). I have gathered 25 organization tasks that will take you 15 minutes or less! Give one (or all) of them a go and let me know what you think!
Unsubscribe from unwanted emails - What are the emails that you are constantly deleting without reading? It’s time to unsubscribe so you can clear out and simplify your inbox.
Shred, recycle, or file any loose mail or papers - I think we are all familiar with the frustration that can come with papers and mail causing chaos across your countertop. Collect them all, place them in one of these three categories (shred, recycle, file), and follow through with action.
Go through your junk drawer - We all have that one drawer in our home where everything seems to gather (if it’s anything like mine, it will look like sunglasses, dog treats, key chains, and a whole lot of scrunchies). Today is the day to clear it out and give it a little structure.
Refold a drawer in your dresser - Nothing like a little refold to elevate your entire drawer.
Look over your expiration dates - One of my number one tips with products like makeup or pantry items, is to make sure expired items aren’t taking space. Discard any expired items.
Add labels to cables - If you’ve seen my reel on cord organization, you know how I swear by labeling cords (it will change everything).
Create a to-do list on the notes app of your phone - Write out the “must to-dos” and “nice to-do’s” for your upcoming week.
Clutter sweep - Grab a basket. As you go around your home, grab any loose clothing, toys, etc in the basket. Once you’ve gone through your home, place all the basket items into their rightful place.
Color coordinate your closet - Instant elevation. I like to go by type then color. So all short sleeved shirts are color coordinated, then long sleeve, then jackets, etc.
Go through your phone’s photos - Anybody else accidentally screenshot things all the time? Clear some storage in your phone by deleting unwanted photos. If you have a little extra time, sort them in albums.
Quick edit - Choose one room, drawer, or closet that is getting a little cluttered. Go through and edit out any items that are not currently serving you. Donate and/or discard.
Car Cleanup - Gather any trash and loose change in your car. If you have a couple extra minutes, give it a quick vacuum.
Over zhuzh - This can be anything from fluffing pillows, realigning glassware, or centering centerpieces.
Bon voyage pet hair - Grab a vacuum (or my favorite pet hair remover) and take it to your couch, pillows, clothes, or anything else your furry friend rolls on.
Fridge refresh - Although a thorough fridge transformation would take far more than 15 minutes, a quick refresh will take close to no time at all. Remove rotten foods, quick wipe down, and place like-minded items on each shelf (dairy, meat, produce, etc).
Organize the apps on your phone - Create folders for similar apps. This will make it easier to find the app you're looking for and will keep your home screen from getting cluttered.
Purge social media followers - It can be so easy to cut your scrolling time immensely, by simplifying your followers. Remove the accounts (or mute) that no longer spark joy.
Create a grocery list on your phone - AKA the ultimate time saver.
Clear Out Your purse, backpack or briefcase - This can be as simple as gathering change, removing/filing receipts, and placing like-items in a pouch to be contained.
Put up hooks - Whether it’s hooks in your garage to store garden tools or hooks in your bathroom for towels/robes, going vertical will be an organization game changer.
Clear your counters - Take 10-15 minutes every night (ideally) to put away appliances you don’t need daily, wipe off sticky substances, and remove random clutter.
Take items off your nightstand - Similar to a junk drawer, it seems like one’s nightstand tends to gather extra and unnecessary “accessories.” Clear it off, remove the trash, and put away extra items.
Clear off 2 shelves in your pantry - Organizing your pantry can be a lot, but approaching it two shelves at a time can be far more approachable.
Build an organization calendar - If you’ve read my recent blog post, you know how much I recommend a home organization calendar. By taking a couple minutes to plan out your week and/or month, it will truly take your organization to the next level.
Tackle your books - Go through your books and evaluate what books you want to keep in your inventory (donate any books that you are ready to let go of). From here, organize your books by size or color (or both ;).
