Celebrating 7 Years of Life in Jeneral

Can you believe it?! I blinked, and suddenly it’s been seven years. Seven years since I launched this dream of mine into a reality. Seven years that I’ve been a business owner. Seven years of my team and I being invited into your homes to transform the way you live. Seven years of hard lessons, unimaginable challenges, exciting victories, and immeasurable personal and professional growth.

Each year, I like to take this day to take a step back and reflect. It’s so important to recognize and celebrate your achievements, big and small! Now that we’re at year seven, I’m excited to take a look back at this past year and the amazing things that we’ve accomplished. Here are some of the highlights from the past year living Life in Jeneral…

My book

One of my greatest professional accomplishments thus far has been my book: Life in Jeneral. It’s a soulful guide on the “soul work” of home organization—the psychological and emotional foundation necessary for creating a streamlined and sustainable lifestyle. I still remember the day I got the call asking if I wanted to write a book. I thought it was a joke in all honesty! Flash forward, and its release in December has rocked my world. For me, the best part of the book is that it’s granted me the ability to touch the lives and homes of people all over the world, which is something I know wouldn’t be possible otherwise!

LIJ Academy

This past year saw the launch of LIJ Academy, which is a community created for professional organizers. We created this because it’s exactly what I wish I’d had when I established Life in Jeneral. I’ve always known that if I can take that challenge off of other aspiring entrepreneurs’ plates, I would. Since launch, we’ve come out with a master class, 2 guides, 1-on-1 coaching and an in-depth look into training a team of organizers in an effort to help anyone with a passion for organizing set up their own dream business.

LIJ Spaces

In the last year, Life in Jeneral underwent a rebrand, and it was a big deal. The LIJ branding didn’t change too drastically, but something else did. Our sister company, Closets in Jeneral, was created to design custom built-ins to maximize storage spaces and opportunity for organization in 2018. When we realized this company would be much more than just closets, we knew we’d want to change the name eventually. So we took the opportunity when we rebranded to introduce the world to LIJ Spaces!

Our office

We leased our office space/showroom in January 2020 as a fixer upper project, and unsurprisingly, that was put on hold for the better part of 2020. In 2021, we finally hit the ground running on the renovation, getting new floors, walls, doors, and probably most excitingly, we’ve started on the LIJ Spaces showroom construction! We’re putting the last touches and doing more cosmetic finishes, like furnishing and organizing, in the office now and have it set to be finished so soon. We’re talking weeks, people!

the How To: Summit

A super exciting highlight from the past year was going to the How To: Summit hosted by my friends at HomeSort! It was an amazing conference designed just for professional organizers. It’s such a unique line of work, so to be able to come together and share that common bond was so special. I was honored to be asked to speak at the event, which was equal parts exciting and nerve wracking. You can find my speech here!

Good morning america feature

If you told me 7 years ago that I’d be featured on Good Morning America, I would have laughed in your face. I mean… what a crazy opportunity! But it happened! In July, my tips on all things wallet organization, pantry organization, and WFH office organization! The thought of helping people across the country get organized is truly a dream of mine, as I believe that the more organized we all are, the more room we have to connect. So to speak to it on national television was a dream come true! See my segment here.

Organizing for over 200 clients

Our team has been busy, busy, busy this past year! We’ve really honed in on our home base, southern California, working locally to get clients organized. We have an amazing team of 15 organizers who work tirelessly to give our clients functional, beautiful, and maintainable systems of organization. I might be biased, but I truly believe that they’re the best of the best when it comes to organizing. ;)

Needless to say, it’s been a big year. Lucky number 7 was eventful in so many ways and I can’t quite express my gratitude for all the things running this company has allowed me. As we look forward to the next seven, I truly don’t know what they’ll hold. What I do know is that we’re ready for it! So, here’s to Life in Jeneral, and most importantly, thank you to each and every one of you who have made this journey possible!
