How to Organize your COVID-19 Gear

How+to+Organize+you+COVID-19+Gear

We have entered into a new normal that no one really saw coming. Earlier this month, the Center for Disease Control stated that people should wear a cloth mask or face covering to help limit the spread of COVID-19. You can find some of our favorite masks here or even learn how to make your own here. While there are plenty of resources to find a mask but what to do with them at home is a whole different situation. We came up with a few suggestions to organize for a new COVID-19 command center.

Get in the zone

Create a zone where you keep all your gear. Use a bin to contain things like clean masks, gloves, and sanitizer spray. Another great idea is to use hooks to hang the clean masks in this zone. That way whenever anyone needs to head outdoors they will have easy access to everything they need. This zone should be located near your home’s main entrance or exit.

Keep it simple

This zone should be for a quick grab and go, so only keep one of each item per person and create a back stock area for the rest. By streamlining this zone, you will help your family to focus on the activity rather than fumbling through piles. Just like any backstock area, you want to make sure you keep away from heat and in a part of the house like a linen closet or laundry room that everyone can access if they need to.

Stay clean, stay healthy

Now more than ever it is important to keep yourself and the things you wear clean. Make sure the materials you use to store masks is easy to clean like an acrylic or metal container. Masks should be worn and cleaned often, so it’s helpful to add a hamper or basket in your new command center for all used items. This will help you remember which masks have been worn and which ones are still fresh.

This new way of living is a little tricky but so important to protect yourself and those who are vulnerable! Creating a command center that has all your COVID-19 gear organized and ready, will hopefully help you and your family feel safer and just a little bit more in control. Stay safe and stay healthy!!
