Client Spotlight: Shay Mitchell
Shay Mitchell is a woman who truly does it all. She’s an actress, vlogger, business owner, hot sauce connoisseur and is about to become a new mother! While she’s generally an organized person, it was time for an in depth life clean up to prepare for baby and a fresh, new start. We were thrilled to help with the transition from a two person lifestyle to one of three. Read on for the full details of this fun project!
Laundry Area
Everyone knows that with a new baby comes a whole new laundry schedule. Keeping clean with a little one is an impossible feat, but we took measures to make it as easy as possible for Shay to make laundry time more accessible and fun.
Nursery
The prep before baby is no doubt one of the more overwhelming transitions. You’re trying to organize diapers, clothes and toys, while mentally checking off a checklist of what you need. We wanted to focus on aesthetics while also keeping the nursery practical. After all, when it comes time for cleanup, it’s about preserving every second of time for baby and then sleep. We added drawer organizers and dividers to the nursery drawers to maximize each drawer to its full capacity. This is a great way to prep your changing station - an easy and fast change for a baby becomes easier when everything you need is right where you’re standing.
Kitchen
Shay and family are big foodies. If you’ve watched any one of her YouTube videos or seen her instagram, she’s either cooking or trying the next best thing on the market. This means the kitchen area means a lot to her. It also means she had a lot of different products and items that she never used taking up precious space in her home. We maximized space by doing a complete system refresh with all our favorite products from the Container Store. (Great news: it’s the perfect time for you to do this as well. We decanted all of her spices into matching jars and lined her kitchen drawer with spice liners to keep them in place, her tea drawer transformed simply by taking the tea bags out of their bulky packaging and adding in a tea container, and we maximized her drawer space by adding in expandable drawer dividers. Since there were a lot of drawers with cooking accessories, we added bamboo drawer organizers to keep everything categorized and contained. Her cabinets are long and sometimes not that wide, which can be a pain when trying to keep track of what gets put in the back. To remedy this issue, we added in longer Linus binz to pull out whenever something is needed - just be sure to add a label to help remember exactly what you’ve put in them.
Pantry
Shay’s love of food and trying new things means her kitchen is chock full of her favorites. In order for her to keep organized, we added a few key products that helped take her pantry to supermarket status - one where she can walk in and know exactly what she’s working with. To maximize shelving space, we use stackable bamboo trays. With these, you can see what’s inside while also keeping your items contained within. A lot of space was being taken up by bulky packaging, so we decanted pasta, nuts, flours and the like into airtight glass jars to keep them fresh, and looking fresh too.
We had the best time organizing with Shay. With her due date fast approaching, we have no doubt she’s ready to welcome baby with open arms to her newly organized home.
