That Clean Feeling
For me, this past year has hit home a little differently. It reminded me to check-in on all areas of my life, specifically within my home. I highly recommend checking in and giving your spaces a little clean energy to prepare for another crazy, but GOOD year ahead.
I started my organizing business to make my clients’ lives easier and more enjoyable -- most importantly, teaching them what being organized really means. When items are in a designated area and properly contained, it provides an automatic relief and organically leaves a space nice and neat. Over the years I’ve evolved my technique to perfect systems so they are easily maintained. It’s necessary to create a flow that works best for you and your family to easily find, grab, and put back once you’re done with an item. Here are the products I like to use for creating my systems and keeping a space clean:
Lazy Susan - the best product for making your items easily accessible. It is a great solution for those hard to reach, odd-shaped spaces, and best of all, keeps categories together.
Drawer Organizers - one of my go-to’s because they’re completely customizable and modular for any space and containing different sizes of inventory. They create designated areas for items and keep an entire space in order.
Bins - to create a system, you need to provide your inventory structure and confine them to a designated space. Bins are essential for containing items. You can also have a little fun with your bins and use them to add an element of style to any space.
Stackable Drawers - to provide ample storage, I love adding stackable drawers. Most of the drawers I use are dual-purpose to store shoes or add additional storage to any space!
Canisters - the perfect solution for getting rid of clutter on a shelf. They provide a visual indicator of any item, inventory level, and where it belongs in a space. When items are visible they get used and reduce going to waste. Another great benefit, pending the type, it can keep items fresher, much longer than in their original packaging.
In addition to getting your items in order, it’s important to create a clean space. And when I say clean space, I actually mean cleaning. Over the years I’ve been purging my old cleaning products and switching out for new brands and products that are better for my well-being and the environment. In particular, I am loving the Back to Basic’s Cleaner than Clean, spray. I’ve recently partnered with Ashleigh Frager, founder of Back to Basics, to create an exclusive wellness set with three products that are actually CLEAN for your home. Luckily, Ashleigh is a dear friend of mine and has taught me that so many products are marketed as “green” or “clean” but hide toxic ingredients that harm both the consumer and the environment. The co-branded set is a limited edition, and trust me when I say they are completely CLEAN products. Check out my interview (here) with Ashleigh, as we talk about our collaboration and the actual ingredients used in the products.
As you are refreshing your space to kick off 2021, make sure to check your cleaning ingredients to make sure that they align with the fresh feeling you want in your space. Below are some other products I am loving to keep my spaces clean:
